The beginning was modest, with some classes of Swedish massage and practicing a few months on different clients. I was discovered by this technique a few years ago while searching on the internet information about different types of massage. I was attracted by a website about Nuad, I accessed it, read it and … the decision was taken.
This was followed by some classes. The first one in Germany, with Andreas, where I actually found out how complex this massage is. He had a rich experience in this field, more than ten years and was very keen on what he was doing. From there, I moved on to Nepal, to Rahul, the master who had trained my German instructor as well. This was a month of extremely rich experiences, in a scenery completely different of our Western world. Rahul really was a professional in this field, his working method being extremely harmonious. During the demonstrations, you felt like attending a ballet class. When I got back home, I started practicing intensely with acquaintances and friends, then with friends of my friends etc. One year later , I went to the country where this technique traces back, Thailand, for 3 months of intense training to John’s school (John is the name given by the Westerns to the headmaster of the school). When I graduated I had a more complete view upon this technique, as well as the right to teach in my turn the first modules. After that, I got back home where I went on practicing, and at the same time, I started teaching the technique, organizing a few classes in the City of Iasi.
The structure I follow is that of the Thai school, ITM (International Training Massage School), being authorized to teach the first two levels of the six they have:
level I - movements in the lying on the back and sitting positions; mostly the feet, the hands and the head are worked on; this is considered the introductory level
level II - movements in the lying flat on the stomach, sidewise and sitting positions; a special attention is given to the back; a greater level of complexity; after completion of this level you are authorized to massage the clients
level III – this one is focused on the ten energetic lines and working on them; it includes new movements, not studied in the previous levels; it’s the “heart” of the system, the success of a massage really depending on the correct working along the lines
level IV – points of tension specific to different diseases are learnt (spine pains, headaches, throat pains etc) as well as working on them: movements from the previous levels with small adaptations are used
levels V-VI - are intended for those who want to become instructors and include, in addition, didactic modules
These classes last for five consecutive days, usually from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m, with a lunch break. The first part of the day starts with a small theoretical part, followed by preparatory gymnastics (the body has to be in optimum shape, because many of the Nuad movements are demanding, both in terms of force and mobility). Once these exercises are done, there are presented, both theoretically and practically, the movements for that specific day, and after that we move to the practice itself, the attendees working in pairs of two.
For the time being, they are taught in Iasi, in a pleasant environment, especially designed for this. On principle, it is possible to take these classes in other cities/countries as well, if there are enough attendees.
In order to organize classes in Iasi, at least two attendees are necessary, and the maximum number is restricted to four, due to objective reasons concerning the space.
At the end of the classes, the Thai school (ITM) issues a diploma which is sent to the graduate via mail.
The graduates of the first two levels organized in Romania may go on studying the upper levels to the school in Thailand, because the classes they took here are automatically acknowledged by ITM.
